It Won't Happen To Me.

I don't claim to be a poet by any stretch of the imagination, but I wrote this primarily for the message. Thanks for letting me share it with you all.

I saw you today,
With your infant on your lap;
Only going up the street,
And besides,
He's taking a nap.

It won't happen to me.

I saw you today,
Leave your child in the car;
Only going in for a sec,
And besides,
The doors are locked.

It won't happen to me.

I saw you today,
Drop your child off at the park;
There's a strange man lurking,
But it's not after dark.

It won't happen to me.

I saw you today,
After your grocery trip;
Doors wide open,
Kids playing in the trunk.

It won't happen to me.

Danger can happen,
Up the block,
In a car that's locked,
In the daylight of a park,
In the car trunk.

It can happen to you.
